New Richmond, Wisconsin
The important task of protecting and sharing our past couldn’t be done without the help of our many volunteers. The support and participation from our hearty community, so rich in historical information and special skills, has always been essential to the success of our mission.
If you are interested in offering your time, we’re always looking for volunteers to assist at events and programs, as tour guides or writers, in our museum or flea market, or with building and grounds maintenance. Below are a just a few ways you can volunteer your time: Docents: Our docents help bring our history to life. They educate visitors to the Heritage Center by providing information about the historic buildings, our areas rich history, and what life was like for people who lived here. Flea Market Volunteers: The Barn Flea Market, managed and staffed by volunteers, has been a cornerstone of the Heritage Center and community since 1984. Proceeds from the Flea Market help maintain the museum, programs, and educational tours. Bonus: As a Flea Market Volunteer, you’ll also be one of the first to scope out new donations and buy a few things before the doors open. Gardeners/Grounds Crew: For those of you who like to play in the dirt, we can always use help maintaining the grounds by trimming, weeding, and watering flower beds and green spaces on an ongoing basis. Writers and Storytellers: Our history is our story. By writing blog post, press releases, or newsletter articles, volunteer writers help us share stories of our past and news about the Heritage Center. Do you have local history that you would like to share or an interesting tale from the past? Programs & Special Events Assistants: Assist with various activities related to special Heritage Center programs and events, including the annual Heritage Days weekend in September. Collections & Exhibits Curators: Curators help to receive and process artifacts and photos. They also help with doing research, caption writing, and assembly of displays and exhibits. If you or someone you know might be interested in volunteering, please send us an email at [email protected] with your area of interest. |
